Essential Apps to Pack For Your Holiday

Gone are the days of avoiding your mobile phone while you’re overseas. There are many iPhone (and iPad) Apps which can be used on holiday to make your trip easier without eating up expensive international data charges. Thanks to some of my friends recommending some awesome Apps my vacation to Spain was a breeze. If you’re going away soon, consider downloading some of these before you leave.

City Maps To Go (£1.99 – Download)

I’m putting this right at the top of my list. I’ve found this the best Google Maps alternative overseas. Use this offline map app and you will never have to carry around a paper city map or guide book. No matter whether you’re traveling to in the world, the interactive offline maps are always available in your pocket and won’t use up any data use. Local points of interest and Wikipedia articles can be downloaded too.

FlightAware (Free – Download)

The very best free flight tracker on the app store. This app allows you to track the real-time flight status and tracking map of any commercial flight worldwide. finding your flight is easy with the various search options and the useful Push notifications will update you on flight departure/arrival info as well as cancellations, gate changes, delays, and diversions.

‘Learn Free’ Phrase Books. (Spanish, Japanese, German, Italian, French – Download)

It goes without saying that an essential phrasebook should be travelling along with you. There are tonnes of apps which will teach you the basics and will help you pronounce what you’d like to say. My favourite is by Bravolol as the app is totally offline. They are free, with enough content to get you started. Then a cheap in-app-purchase will unlock all the content. Well recommended.

We asked for Luke to come in for a training day with our staff since we were taking over the running of a Mac office and all had very little experience of using them. We found the half a day of training exceptionally useful. We were taught basic things, however we could already see that they would greatly increase our productivity and understanding of how to get the best out of using the Mac computers. The session was the best of both worlds of being taught the basics that we were lacking but without going too basic and wasting time. Will definitely be getting Luke back in again soon!

Thank you Luke for sorting out all my Apple issues! Luke was able to set up my multiple computers, phones and iPads with home and business email and calendar accounts. I have used his services multiple times and he always knows what to do, from printers, wifi and fix any issues whenever my Mac breaks or I need help with Office apps. Highly recommended.
