The Southampton Recycle App does so much more than just finding out when your next bin-day is. It’s actually a really useful tool to get in touch and stay informed with the City Council for a wide range of services. For example you can report fly tipping and graffiti, find recycling locations and check which items belong in each collection bin.
If you live in Southampton, it’s an essential download. Here are our highlights.
1. Report Fly-tipping, Graffiti, Litter or even Roadkill in a matter of seconds.
Our communities should be clean, but if you spot something that isn’t right, you can take a photo within the app, and you’re location is determined automatically. Then just provide a brief description and your name. Your report is sent instantly. In our test, we received an email from Southampton City Council the next day and noticed the rubbish we reported in Shirley was removed within 48 hours. Impressive, but lets hope the council can keep up.
2. Can i put that in my bin?
Unsure if you can recycle Engine oil, Batteries, Rubble or your embarrassing Cliff Richard vinyl collection? Use the handy checker to see if you can use your own bins, otherwise you’ll get a map to your nearest recycling centre so anything can be disposed of safely.
3. When is my next bin day?
You can check your collection days for household waste, recycling, garden waste and glass. You can even set a reminder on your phone so you don’t wake up in the middle of the night and take out the bins in your pyjamas.
